Silver Dollar City opens the season with a first-of-its-kind ride debut, making history with the World’s Most Daring Wood Coaster, Outlaw Run. Outlaw Run will feature the world’s first and only double barrel roll on a wood coaster, with a 720-degree (double) barrel roll. It will be: the only wood coaster to twist upside down three times; the world’s steepest wood coaster with a first drop of 162 feet (more than 16 stories) – nearly vertical; and the second fastest wood coaster in the world, reaching a top speed of 68 miles per hour.
Silver Dollar City also presents 7 world-class festivals and events. Beginning in April, World-Fest features performers from around the world, costumes and culture to stages around the park. New shows include Argentinian gaucho drummers and dancers, plus aerial dancers who soar above the stage; and Island Fire presenting world-champion fire-knife dancers. The popular “Viva Italia” showcase of Italian entertainment returns, plus performers from Switzerland, Ireland and Ecuador. Bluegrass & BBQ, named Bluegrass Event of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association, features the top names in bluegrass music including Rhonda Vincent & the Rage and The Grascals.
Summer’s KidsFest kids can soar and splash on rides from the high-flying Giant Barn Swing to the themed water battle Tom & Huck’s RiverBlast, plus stunt dogs perform, explosions and wild experiments fill the stage of the Wacky Science show, and kids can meet their favorite cartoon characters. In late summer, Moonlight Madness brings night-riding thrills, followed by America’s top Southern Gospel artists in Southern Gospel Picnic, including Guy Penrod, the Booth Brothers, Jeff & Sheri Easter and The Isaacs, and Southern Gospel Nights Concerts each evening.
In fall, the National Harvest Festival presents a new show featuring the Texas Trick Riders performing stunts and tricks on horseback, plus a Western Stunt Show with professional stunt men and women showcasing stunts from high falls to pyrotechnics, all part of the Salute to the Great American Cowboy. Over 125 visiting craftsmen gather for the nation’s largest festival of demonstrating craftsmen.
November & December feature the acclaimed festival An Old Time Christmas, presenting the original musical productions It’s A Wonderful Life and A Dickens’ Christmas Carol, plus a 5-Story Christmas Tree with a sound and light show, a Holiday Light Parade and over 4-million lights.
The paved trail round trip covers 6 miles and is relatively level. You’ll pass beautiful limestone bluffs, hear tumbling waterfalls, cross natural and covered bridges, see rainbow trout in spring-fed waters,and perhaps even native wildlife.
